The largest number of new cases, 22, come from the Burntwood/Churchill region of Manitoba's north. Most of those cases are First Nations people. Authorities say the jump in numbers further confirms the influenza outbreak is province-wide and it is likely that H1N1 is present in every community in Manitoba. All Manitobans are at risk for exposure to the H1N1 virus. Of the 119 cases, 31 people are suffering from a severe respiratory illness and are being treated in hospital. That's a net increase of five from yesterday as three people are now recovering. The majority of people in Manitoba who have become ill have not required hospitalization. Health official also say In Manitoba there is no public health reason to close schools, community centres or other public gathering places or to avoid travel to any community. That includes communities like St. Theresa Point which has been hit hard by the virus. A call-out yesterday for extra medical coverage in St. Theresa Point and Garden Hill has been answered, an official said. A physician for each community is being added through to next week.
