Income Tax Appointments: All appointments to meet with a volunteer
who can help you complete your tax return are now taken. However, we
can still arrange to have your taxes done by "drop-off". This means
that the volunteer will do your tax return for you when you are not
there in person. To arrange to have your tax return completed by
"drop-off", please bring the following to the ICS office (541 University
Centre) and fill out the "drop-off" sheet in the lounge.
1) Tuition Receipt - T2202A
2). T4 - from your employer (if you have worked)
3) Scholarship/ bursary receipts
4) Rent Receipts - copies, not originals, for residence and
apartments. Remember that ONLY one person in the apartment
can claim the refund for everyone. The refund is then divided
up with everyone. Rooming house and Homestay payments are not
refundable.
5) Charitable Donation receipts
Be sure to have your SIN or Personal Tax Number!
* Have You Received Mail from the Canada Revenue Agency?: If you
have done your taxes in Canada before, you may receive one or both
of the following letters from the Canada Revenue Agency:
(i) A letter printed on blue paper that contains mailing labels.
(ii) Form T1-2005 with the titles "Important Notice" and "Revised
Income Tax Information".
If you receive either of these letters in the mail, do not lose
them! If you will have a volunteer assist you with your taxes, you
must bring them with you to your appointment.
* Looking For Your T2202A Tax Form?: T2202A tax forms for the 2005
tax year are available on My UMinfo. To obtain your T2202A tax
form, follow the steps below:
(i) log into "My UMinfo"
(ii) click on "Print friendly T2202A tax form" located in the
left-hand menu
(iii) choose the 2005 tax year (other tax years may also be
selected if required).
Note: If you have signed up to have a volunteer help you with your
tax return, you must bring your T2202A with you to your
appointment.
